A nice step up in convenience from our Paragon, the Achiever's dual lighting system really shines.  A fluorescent illuminator has been positioned beneath its circular, frosted, glass stage.  A second light is located overhead, near the objective lenses.  This light moves with the lenses during focusing, assuring the best lighting.  Side by side toggle switches allow illumination of either, both, or neither lights.  The binocular eyepieces allow adjustment for each individual's needs. This high quality instrument is well suited for close up inspection and dissection, and is available in your choice of 10x and 30x, 10x and 20x, or 20x and 40x magnification.

• Dual 10x wide field eyepieces, fully adjustable for interpupillary distance, so that children and adults can both use with ease.  It also has diopter adjustment, allowing it to compensate for variations in users vision.

• Your choice of paired 1x and 3x objectives (yielding 10 and 30 power with the 10x eyepieces), 1x and 2x (10 and 20 power), or 2x and 4x objectives (20 and 40 power)

• The dual eyepieces and paired objectives result in amazing three dimensional (not flat) viewing of subjects

• Inclined binocular head rotates a full 360 degrees for comfortable viewing

• Helical rack and pinion focusing with tension adjustment and slip clutch to protect gear system

• Stage and lens setup permits viewing objects as tall as 60mm (2+ inches)

• Working distance of 90 mm allows over three inches of space between the lenses and the object you are viewing...plenty of space for work and manipulation.

The Achiever is an amazing stereo microscope. It has all of the features of our fine Paragon model, but adds a top notch lighting system.  The fluorescent light in the base will flood translucent objects with light, while the overhead light provides the top lighting needed in applications where the subject is not translucent.  The light moves up and down with the objectives (while focusing), so it always applies lighting where needed.  A four-way switch allows you to turn on and off the lights just the way you need them.

The Achiever is available in three lens configurations.  The 10x eyepieces are standard in either model. The first configuration offers 1x and 3x twin objectives, which yield 10 and 30 power magnification.  The second available configuration has 1x and 2x twin objectives, yielding 10 and 20 power magnification. Finally, there is a 2x/4x combination yielding 20 and 40 power.   The first (10/30) configuration has been very popular for most applications.

At 10 power, a common Lincoln Penny will fill the whole view, like a dinner plate. A simple turn of the twin objectives boosts that magnification to 30 power - now the word "one" on the back of that penny will stretch out from one side of your view to the other. The head of a pin now looks as big as a nickel, and a rock from your backyard is enlarged with unexplored canyons like some undiscovered planet.  Any common bug becomes a monster - capturing your children's attention like no "toy" they have ever had.

Please understand that the Achiever is not for peering into the microscopic world. We have compound microscopes (such as the Explorer, Observers, and Revelations) which will allow you to see amoeba, plant cells and the like. The Achiever is a stereo microscope for getting an eyeful of just about anything "visible" that you can put on it's generous stage. It is a wonderful piece of equipment.

Accessory:

There is an additional set of eyepieces available for this scope.  They are 15x and when in use will multiply the scope power by 1.5.  They will make a 10/30 into a 15/45, 10/20 into 15/30, and a 20/40 into a 30/60.  These eyepieces replace the standard 10x eyepieces, and are $69.  (You will still have the ability to magnify at the standard power by using the standard eyepieces.)
