| A condenser is a glass lens usually mounted to the stage of a microscope
which focuses the light on the specimen.
Without getting too technical, the numerical aperture (NA) of the condenser must be properly paired with the objective lenses. 100x lenses usually require an NA of 1.25. A focusable condenser can be moved and fine tuned for best results.
